    Description

Let's start with the obvious - you are looking at a 1948 Chevy Truck. It started life as a big old farm truck, complete with a 9ft bed. Big block Chevy. 454, bored 20 over. It's a fresh build - I believe this is a 1974 block.
Fuel system starts with a fuel cell mounted under the boom, Holley electric fuel pump and regulator, Edelbrock 750cfm carb, and Aluminum mid-rise intake. Nitrous kit includes 2 bottles, mounted on the boom, and a fogger plate under the carb. Once pressurized and powered up, it's activated with a switch on the shifter.
Custom fabricated headers, with Dynatech collecter mufflers - which dump behind the front wheels. To make the motor fit (correctly), a new firewall and transmission tunnel was grafted in - donor truck was a '77 K30. This lets the block sit farther back and higher than often seen on these trucks, putting the shifter in the right place. Hydraulic clutch and brake reservoirs are firewall mounted- the dash has been sectioned to move all the gauges and controls a couple of inches to the left- lining up everything correctly with the firewall and seat, and clearing the linkage coming off the (chrome/tilt) steering column past the headers.
Dash and door panels have a carbon wrap.  Leather seat is the rear seat out of a Volvo V70 wagon. Entire seat pan was cut out of the Volvo and welded into the truck. Seats articulate as they did in the Volvo, and it includes all of the seat belts. Access under the seat (a little storage) is accessed through the old Volvo fuel pump hole- where you'll also find the master cut-off switch for the electrics.  Battery is in the stock under-cab location.
Fenders have been opened up, and new lips hand rolled - cold, to preserve the original paint/patina. Paint is all original - nothing fake about it. A long time ago, somebody named this truck "Old Faithful"; you can still make it out on a rear fender. It hasn't been clear coated or otherwise molested.
The front suspension is fully custom - largely built from the rear suspension of a 1974 K30 donor truck. Power steering unit is from that same donor, as is the front axle. 4X4 transfer case is rebuilt, but the front axle will need rebuilt if you want to run the 4X4 (previous owner ran the donor with mis-matched wheel sizes and trashed it). I've always just run it in 2wd. It's sitting on 8-lug 20" rims, and Good Year Eagle GT tires.
It's got a new wiring harness - all the exterior lights work, rear facing spot lights on the boom are set up as the reverse lights. It's got halo ring'd head lights, which serve as the running lights and turn signals.
You've heard of the "man pedal" - this truck has both.
I built this truck as a promotional vehicle for our shop - it always gets more attention than anything else at a car show. Kid's love it because it reminds them of Mater. Guys love it because it's such a beast.
You can watch a short video of the truck running here: https://youtu.be/RHAUu7gbw9I
Last picture is from during the build - showing motor placement, header fabrication, and steering linkage.
Truck is located in Northern Utah. Buyer responsible to arrange pickup- within 15 days of auction end.  Truck is for sale locally - and auction may be ended for a local sale if reserve has not been met.
