Imagine the possibilities with this stunning c. 1890 gilt silver jeweled and enameled chatelaine! You have to wonder what was once attached to the seven appendages. Such an elaborate piece must have had some special treasures that a lady of means would have owned.  Such items may have included a ladies watch. For the sake of visualization, I attached a watch (not part of this auction) to one of the appendages. There may also have been a purse, notepad, pencil, etc.
What makes this so special is the seven figures, the garnet cabochons, pearls and colorful enamel.  There are some punch marks I cannot make out and one of the appendages is stamped silver. While the chatelaine has a hook that may have attached to a belt, there is also an area on the back where a long pin could be attached and could be worn as a brooch or necklace.
Offered in very good antique condition with some expected gilt wear and enamel loss commensurate with age.
